Hello! This blog thing is a new endeavor for me. I’m going to give it a go! This is a picture of Ka.Wa, my spirit horse and dance partner of 13 years, and me.
Welcome to my blog for Circle of Peace! I founded Circle of Peace in 2007 with the purpose of bringing ease to others, human and animal, with Reiki. A couple of years before, I put up a tepee in my backyard to honor my Osage Indian heritage and to hold healing experiences. I hosted drumming circles, spiritual teachings from various women, and even a class to support moms (my son was five at the time). I also held human Reiki sessions in the tepee.
During this time, I taught therapeutic horseback riding and in 2010, I decided to retire to focus on supporting the equines, staff and volunteers at equine assisted services (EAS) centers, and I did. I presented at many regional and national PATH (Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship) conferences to bring awareness to the gift of Reiki and its benefits to the therapeutic team (the equines, volunteers, and staff) at the centers. I also began to teach Reiki classes to individuals who wanted to support their health and the animals in their life.
Forward to 2014…I decided to attend a 300 hour training program with Tallgrass Animal Acupressure Institute to become a certified Equine Acupressure Practitioner. I chose equine acupressure because I knew that I wanted to continue my work with equines, and acupressure, like Reiki, is an eastern healing method that is holistic, gentle, effective, and non-invasive. I wanted to offer both of these methods to the EAS equines and to other clients as well. And I did, and still do. At this time, I offer Reiki and equine acupressure to equines at three EAS centers and have taught Reiki classes and the basics of equine acupressure to several EAS centers over the last few years, and will continue to do so.
I believe that eastern and western medicine work together to provide the most complete care and positive results for animals and people. Using Reiki and equine acupressure, I’m devoted to help animals to feel better and to share and teach these methods to individuals so that they can support their well-being and the health of the animals in their circle of life.
